The Stranglers were probably one of the best but most under publicised British bands of the 80's new wave era. I spent much of my formal teenage years listening to them and I guess this is my little tribute to them. Although they continue to this day having just released their new album Norfolk Coast, I would consider their best years to be between 1975 when they were formed and 1990 when Hugh left. With the departure of Hugh, the band in my opinion, was never quite the same. The line up during those years was Hugh Cornwell - vocals and guitar, Jet Black - drums, Dave Greenfield - Keyboard and Jean Jacques (JJ) Burnel whose driving bass lines signified the Stranglers sound. Despite not being a mainstream band, a few of their early songs may be familiar such as Something Better Change, No More Heroes and Peaches with its iconic bass line. During  '81 - '90 they had more commercial success and  a few of their tracks remain instantly recognizable today such as Golden Brown, Strange Little Girl, Skin Deep and Always The Sun. I have featured their first four albums here, all of them bringing back their own memories. I hope you enjoy them.
